We've Moved...

Hi dear friends and family.  Thanks for being patient waiting for a blog update!  We were busy having a wonderful time in Florida with all of our family and friends.  I've been meaning for some time now to switch our blog to Blogger, since it seems more common and there are a few more things I can do with it over there.  I figured what better time to start than the first of a new year?  So I posted the first of the Tampa pictures.  You can now find us at www.lifewithrogers.blogspot.com.  Not the greatest address, I now, but you wouldn't believe the time I had finding one that wasn't already taken!  I'm still working on getting everything set up so please be patient while we are "under construction".  Hope to hear from you all at our new place!

Let it Snow...

We've gotten some snow the past few days.  The first day that we really had a good covering was Monday, and Matt came home form work and was ready to get to shoveling right away.  I knew Hayden would want to join him so I wasted no time getting him bundled up.  I stayed inside where it was warm but Hayden seemed to have a good time.

After they came inside Hayden was still busy at work.  He lined all of his trucks up across the living room floor, and was very proud of himself.
This afternoon they headed out right after nap time again, only this time I put Hayden's ski bibs on under his ski jacket.  He had on jeans, a long-sleeved shirt and and hoodie on under all that so he could barely move!  He looked like a little marshmallow.

More Birthday Presents and Housecleaning

This week Hayden another box of birthday presents- he is really making out well this year!  Grandpa Bert and Grandma Joyce sent him some new toys and he had lots of fun opening them and playing.  He was all over the place when he and Matt were opening them so I had a hard time capturing the smiles, but he was excited!

Today Matt was vacuuming the carpet and Hayden grabbed his dirt devil jr. to help out.  This is actually a regular occurrence around the house but they were having so much fun today I decided to snap some pictures.

Our Little Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving quietly just the three of us at home this year.  As always we were missing our families from back home, but we enjoyed being together as a family and celebrating the day.  Hayden really enjoyed the Macy's parade, more than I thought he would.  He loved the balloons and the marching bands and kept waving and saying "hi" to all the people waving on the floats.  He even tried to sing along to some of the songs.  While he has recently found his singing voice and loves to sing a long to music, Matt and I are pretty sure he is NOT musically inclined!  It seems he inherited his mommy and daddy's singing abilities. 

I had a lot of success in the kitchen this year and was pretty proud of myself.  This was the first year I tried my hand at my great-grandmother's chocolate meringue pie.  It was yummy but the chocolate part was pretty runny and the meringue was more like a layer of icing on top than the tall stiff egg whites with peaks that I remember on my great-grandmother's version.  I'll have to keep practicing!  
Hayden is hard to capture in pictures these days, he is much more interested in playing with the camera and gets mad when I don't give it to him.  Unfortunately that means not too many pictures but we are working on it!

Hayden's New Trucks

Matt's mom, Nancy sent Hayden three huge Tonka trucks in the mail recently.  I had a hard time keeping them covered until Matt got home because he wanted to be here when Hayden "opened" them.  Of course, my memory card was full not long after I started taking a video.  Also, I failed to tell Matt that I was taking a video instead of a picture so he is extra obnoxious in this one.  You might want to turn your speakers down.

He has lots of other smaller trucks and cars too, but he loves them all!  I think in his opinion he can't get enough.  I try to keep them cleared off the floor throughout the day and consequently he has gotten in the habit of keeping them all lined up against the wall (for the most part).  Here is a picture of the "parking lot":

Hayden's Birthday Part 3

Wow!  Hayden has really had a whole week full of festivities.  I'm a little glad it's over...whew!  Today was his birthday party and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun.  We just had a small get together at the house with a few friends.  Hayden enjoyed playing with all of his buddies.  Here are a few of the pics that were taken:

Each kid took a turn pulling a string, only one string would spill all the goodies.  Luckily, everyone got a turn before the "key" string was pulled.

Hayden's Birthday Part 2 (lots of pictures!)

I started Hayden's birthday last year by taking a picture first thing when he woke up in the morning.  I decided to do the same this year.  Unfortunately, Hayden is still getting over his cold, so this is how we have been starting our mornings lately:

We had a lazy morning of breakfast, cartoons, and loading some laundry.  He also played with his playdough and then had his favorite snack- cottage cheese!
He played on his new trampoline a lot today, even while watching the movie Madagascar.  At one point I walked through the room while I was doing housework and this is what I found:
I put him down for a nap and went to work on laundry some more.  Somehow I missed the fact that THIS happened while the towels were washing:
After nap time Hayden had a nice surprise.  Matt came home from work early!  And..he brought a present!

I questioned whether Hayden really needed ANOTHER dump truck, but Matt insisted "he loves them!"  He was right:
Then we all left for Boise to play at Monkey Bizness, and we all had a blast.  We took lots of pics there.
Afterwards we took him to Red Robin for dinner.  He really enjoyed the balloons they put on our table for his birthday.
Everything was going great until Hayden took a gigantic swan dive head first into the floor while we were eating.  We are still not sure what happened, it happened so quickly.  I think with the booth seats being so soft, his weight shifted slightly and the booster seat sank to one side and he went overboard.  Matt tried to grab him but only caught his seat.  It was a pretty bad fall but luckily he came away with only a bump on his head.  It kind of spoiled the birthday song and the ice cream that came to the table a few minutes later, since he was still out of sorts.  He leaned back against the booth and stared at Matt's back the whole time.  Things were kind of sad for a few minutes :(

They gave Hayden a  balloon to bring home and of course it popped 10 minutes after we got in the car!  Props to Matt for squelching that potential river of tears.
When we got home our gift to Hayden was waiting for him in the kitchen.  We got him a tool bench.  We got one picture right before the battery died, luckily it was a good one!  I will post more pics of him playing with it another day.  He was really excited about it.
Happy 2nd birthday Hayden!  We love you!

Hayden's Birthday Part 1

We can hardly believe Hayden turns two today!  We started celebrating yesterday by talking on Skype to my family back in Florida.  Despite my best intentions to take pictures of Hayden talking to everyone, I forgot!  He really enjoyed talking to them, and they got to watch him open the birthday presents they got him.  My parents and brother got him his first toddler trampoline, an electronic one that plays music and has games on it.  He loves to jump!  Unfortunately I have yet to catch him mid-air, but I'll keep trying.  I'll also get a video soon because it's pretty funny to watch him.


My sister and her husband got Hayden his first play dough set, complete with accessories!  He had never played with playdough before but he played with it for quite a while yesterday and then this morning.  I am looking forward to both of these gifts providing good indoor entertainment for the winter!
This afternoon Matt will come home early and we are going to take Hayden to and indoor play place in Boise and then out to eat.  Thursday we will have a small party here at the house with a few of our friends, so more birthday pictures to come!
